The domain borrows the SURA insurer name and presents itself as "SOAT - Seguro Obligatorio | Compra 100% Digital". Its targets are motorists looking to buy or renew their policy online. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-05, and the site has been dead since 2026-10-19, with its DNS no longer resolving.

How the scam works

Every vehicle owner needs a valid SOAT, so a page that promises a quick, fully digital purchase attracts people searching for the cheapest or fastest option. Pages of this kind ask for the plate number and owner details, then quote a price and push the visitor to a checkout form. That form collects card numbers, expiry dates, security codes and identity data, which go straight to the operators. The victim loses the money paid, gets no valid policy, and may face further fraudulent charges on the compromised card.

Evidence

Eleven of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain in a check on 2026-10-06, one day after PhishDestroy listed it. The vendors included alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft, Kaspersky and LevelBlue. Spamhaus lists it in its Domain Block List as spam, so mail filters relying on that feed will reject links to it. The domain also appears in two AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which shows other researchers tracked it independently.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-09-30 through NICENIC INTERNATIONAL GROUP CO., LIMITED and was already live as a phishing page five days later. This is the typical lifespan of a disposable domain built for one short campaign. It was hosted on Contabo GmbH infrastructure in France at 169.58.250.207. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gave visitors a browser padlock, which only means the connection was encrypted and says nothing about who ran the site.

If you entered card details on this site, call your bank now to block the card and dispute the charge, and watch your statements for unfamiliar transactions. If you shared your ID number, address or vehicle details, be wary of follow-up calls or messages that claim to be from your insurer. Buy SOAT only through the insurer's official channels and check that your policy appears in the official registry. Defenders should block the domain and its hosting IP and search mail and proxy logs for visits since 2026-09-30.
