Wi-Fi QR Code Generator

Runs locally

Use Wi-Fi QR Code Generator

What it does

Enter the network name, password and security type to get a QR code that phone cameras use to join the network. The password stays on this page, but anyone who scans the code can read it.

It runs entirely in your browser: nothing you enter is uploaded.

Example

Guest network with WPA

Input
WIFI:T:WPA;S:Example Guest;P:not-a-real-password;H:false;;
Output (captured 2026-10-20)
Wi-Fi payload (password hidden)

WIFI:T:WPA;S:Example Guest;P:••••••••;H:false;;

Load example fills in the network Example Guest with WPA security and its password, then draws the code. A backslash, semicolon, comma, colon or double quote in the name or password is escaped with a backslash, as the ZXing WIFI format requires.

FAQ

What does the QR code contain?

A WIFI: string in the ZXing format, for example WIFI:T:WPA;S:Example Guest;P:secret;H:false;; with the security type, network name, password and hidden-network flag. Backslash, semicolon, comma, colon and double quote are escaped with a backslash so phones split the fields correctly.

Which networks and devices does it work with?

Current iPhone and Android cameras offer to join the network when they see a Wi-Fi code; older Android phones can use the scanner in the Wi-Fi settings or Google Lens. Choose WPA for WPA and WPA2 Personal networks (WPA3 routers in transition mode accept it too); enterprise logins with a user name are not supported.

Is the password sent anywhere?

No. The code is generated in your browser with the bundled qrcode-generator library and nothing is uploaded or handed to other tools. The password is still readable by anyone who scans the code or sees a photo of it.
