PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

sitemv29g72rmt88.cfd is an impersonation phishing page that copies Flare Network and presents itself under the title "Flare: The blockchain for data". Its targets are Flare holders and wallet users who expect to deal with the official project. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-10, the same day the domain was registered. As of 2026-10-19 the host still responds, but the phishing content no longer resolves through DNS. The domain could be repointed and serve the page again at any time.

How the scam works

The page borrows Flare's branding and tagline so that a visitor arriving from an ad, a social post or a direct message believes they are on the real project site. Scams of this kind usually push a wallet action, such as connecting a wallet to claim rewards, migrate tokens or fix an account issue. The visitor is then asked to sign a transaction or approval, or to type in a recovery phrase. Any of these steps can let the operators move the victim's tokens out of the wallet, and a stolen recovery phrase gives them control of everything held under it.

Evidence

On 2026-10-14, 16 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. The flagging vendors included BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Emsisoft, G-Data, CRDF and alphaMountain.ai, which is broad agreement across vendors for a site only four days old. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and identified the brand it imitates as Flare Network. The domain also appears on the crypto-focused blocklists of MetaMask, ScamSniffer and SEAL alongside PhishDestroy, so many wallet users will already see a warning before the page loads.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Spaceship, Inc. on 2026-10-10 and detected that same day. That timing points to a disposable domain built for a short campaign. The randomized name on a cheap .cfd extension supports this, since it suggests a batch-generated domain rather than a lookalike meant to fool someone reading the address. The site sits behind Cloudflare, Inc. on an address geolocated to Canada, which hides the real origin server. Its Let's Encrypt certificate means the padlock icon proves nothing about legitimacy.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to this site, use a token-approval checker to revoke any permissions you granted, and move your remaining funds to a fresh wallet. If you typed in a recovery phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and transfer your assets to a new wallet with a new phrase immediately. Reach Flare only through addresses you have verified yourself, never through links in messages or ads. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level, keep watching it in case content returns, and report it to Cloudflare and Spaceship for takedown.
