Overview

segurosoat-suras.top is an impersonation phishing page that poses as an online shop for SOAT, the mandatory traffic accident insurance that drivers in Colombia and Peru must buy. The domain name blends "seguro SOAT" with a near-copy of the insurer name Sura, and the page presents itself as "SOAT - Seguro Obligatorio | Compra 100% Digital." The targets are vehicle owners who search online for a quick way to buy or renew their policy. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-05, and on 2026-10-19 its content no longer loaded.

How the scam works

Fake SOAT storefronts take advantage of a deadline that every driver faces. The site promises a fast, fully digital purchase, often at a price that looks like a discount, and then asks for the plate number, ID document, contact details and full card information. The victim receives no valid policy and may still be driving uninsured. The attackers keep the card data, which they can reuse for fraudulent charges or sell.

Evidence

On 2026-10-07, VirusTotal showed 15 of 92 engines flagging the domain. The vendors included BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, alphaMountain.ai, CRDF and Gridinsoft. That count is solid for a domain only a week old. Spamhaus lists it in its domain blocklist under the spam category, and it appears in two AlienVault OTX threat pulses alongside the PhishDestroy listing.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-09-30 through NICENIC INTERNATIONAL GROUP CO., LIMITED, just five days before PhishDestroy caught it. That short gap is typical of throwaway phishing domains built for a short campaign. It resolved to 169.58.250.207 on the Contabo network, which is registered in Germany, while the address geolocates to France. Its Let's Encrypt certificate shows that the padlock in the browser says nothing about whether the seller is genuine.

What to do

If you entered card details on this site, call your bank immediately to block the card and dispute any charges, and watch your statements for small test transactions. If you shared your ID number or plate details, be wary of follow-up calls or messages that claim to be about your policy. Buy SOAT only through your insurer's official channels or an authorized seller, and check that your policy appears in the official national registry.
