PhishDestroy threat report
polygon-pos.cyou was a phishing page that impersonated Polygon. It ran under the title "Polygon zkEVM", and the domain name points at Polygon's PoS chain, so it was aimed at users who bridge, stake or move assets on Polygon networks. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-04. The site has been offline since 2026-10-11, and its DNS was still inactive at the last check on 2026-10-19.
Pages like this copy the look of an official Polygon portal, often promising a zkEVM migration, bridge, airdrop or staking claim. The goal is to get the visitor to act inside their wallet. The visitor may be asked to connect and sign transactions or token approvals that hand control of their assets to the attacker. Some pages instead ask for a recovery phrase under the pretext of verification or syncing. In either case the victim can lose the tokens in the affected wallet, and a leaked seed phrase exposes every account derived from it.
On 2026-10-06, 12 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. The vendors included alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft and Kaspersky. That is a solid result for a domain only a week old. Beyond PhishDestroy, it is listed on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists, which matter most for this threat because they warn wallet users directly at the moment of connection. Four AlienVault OTX pulses also reference it, so other researchers tracked it independently.
The domain was registered through NameSilo, LLC on 2026-09-30, just four days before PhishDestroy caught it. That short gap is typical of throwaway phishing domains spun up for a single campaign. It resolved to Cloudflare (AS13335) in the US, which means the proxy hid the real origin server. The cheap .cyou extension and the brand-plus-network naming fit the pattern of disposable lookalike domains.
If you connected a wallet to this site, use a token approval checker to review and revoke any approvals or permissions granted around early October 2026, and watch the wallet for unexpected outgoing transfers. If you typed in your recovery phrase, treat that wallet as compromised. Create a new wallet on a clean device and move any remaining funds there immediately. Reach Polygon services only through bookmarks or links from Polygon's official channels. Security teams should block the domain, search logs for visits between 2026-09-30 and 2026-10-11, and watch for new Polygon-themed lookalike domains.
