basedfoundation.space is an impersonation phishing page that dressed itself up as a governance vote titled "Based Rewards Proposal | Eligible Voters Receive Rewards." The name and title borrow the look of a "Based" foundation rewards program to reach crypto holders who expect airdrops or voter incentives. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-27. The site has been offline since 2026-09-29, and on 2026-10-19 its domain no longer resolved.

How the scam works

Fake governance proposals use a simple hook. A visitor is told they are an "eligible voter" and that casting a vote unlocks rewards. To vote or claim, the page asks the visitor to connect a wallet and approve a transaction or sign a message. On impersonation pages like this one, that approval or signature is what hands an attacker control over tokens, and the promised reward never arrives.

Evidence

Wallet-security blocklists flagged the domain quickly. MetaMask, ScamSniffer and SEAL all list it alongside PhishDestroy, so many wallet users would already see a warning. On VirusTotal, 6 of 91 engines flagged it as of 2026-09-29: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and Sophos. That count is modest, which is common for a page that lived only a few days. The domain also appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-09-26 through Eranet International Limited, one day before PhishDestroy detected it. It went dark on 2026-09-29, three days after registration. This short register-launch-abandon cycle is typical of disposable phishing domains. The site sat behind Cloudflare, Inc. (the IP geolocates to Canada), so the visible address belongs to the proxy and does not reveal the real origin server.
