Use SMS Analyzer

What it does

Paste a text message to see every link in it (with or without https://, shortened or defanged), the phone numbers, and the signs that give smishing away: urgency, parcel or toll pretexts, small fees, "reply Y".

It runs entirely in your browser: nothing you enter is uploaded.

Example

An unpaid-toll text

Input
E-ZPass: You have an unpaid toll balance of $4.35. Pay within 24 hours to avoid a fine: https://ezpass-pay.example/tolls?id=88. Reply Y and reopen this message to activate the link.
Output (captured 2026-10-20)
Looks like smishing. Do not tap the link, reply or call the number in the message.
Signs
check Pressure to act fast (urgency words).
check A threat: account suspended or locked, fines, legal action.
check Unpaid toll pretext.
check A small fee to pay (redelivery or toll fees are a common hook).
high Asks you to reply "Y" or to copy the link into a browser: a trick to make a blocked link clickable.

Use Send to… → Link Unwrapper above to see where the link goes without opening it.

Flags the toll pretext, the small fee, the 24-hour deadline, the fine and the "Reply Y" trick that makes a blocked link clickable, and lists the link defanged; Send to Link Unwrapper shows where it goes without opening it.

FAQ

Is the message sent anywhere?

No. The text is analysed in your browser with fixed rules; nothing is stored or sent. Links are shown defanged so they cannot be opened by accident.

Why does "Reply Y" matter?

Phones often disable links in messages from unknown senders. Replying (Y, 1, yes) or copying the link into a browser turns them back on, so scammers ask for exactly that. A real company does not need you to reply to open its link.

The message looks clean. Is it safe?

Not necessarily: the rules catch common lures, not every scam. Do not trust a link or a number from an unexpected message; open the company’s app or type its address yourself, and check the link with Link Unwrapper first.
