FAQ

Which directives can I combine?

index, follow, noindex, nofollow, noarchive, nosnippet, noimageindex, notranslate, max-snippet:-1 and max-image-preview:large. The tool does not catch contradictions such as index together with noindex, so untick the defaults when you add their opposites.

Does a meta robots tag stop crawling?

No. It controls indexing and snippets, and crawlers only see it when they may fetch the page, so do not also block that URL in robots.txt. For PDFs and other non-HTML files send the X-Robots-Tag HTTP header instead.

Is anything sent to a server?

No. The tag is built in your browser from the boxes you tick, and nothing is uploaded.
