Camera Recorder

Runs locally

Use Camera Recorder

What it does

Start the camera, record a clip with sound and download it as a video file. Your browser asks for camera and microphone permission first, and the recording stays in the browser until you download it.

It runs entirely in your browser: nothing you enter is uploaded.

Example

Short test clip

Input
Press Start Camera, allow access, press Record, then Stop after a few seconds
What the output looks like
A live preview, then a recording you can play back and download as a WebM (or MP4) file. Nothing is uploaded: the video stays in this browser until you download it.

A Download Recording link appears with the file size; the file (WebM in most browsers) is saved only when you click it.

FAQ

What permissions does it need?

Camera and microphone together. The page's permission policy allows them for this page only, and your browser asks you before the camera starts; if you refuse either, or no microphone is connected, the tool shows an error.

Where does the recording go?

It is kept in your browser's memory and offered as a download link; the page does not upload it, and it is gone when you close or reload the page. Stop ends the recording but leaves the camera on until you leave or reload the page.

Which file format do I get?

WebM with VP9 or VP8 video and Opus audio where the browser supports it, otherwise MP4. The whole clip is held in memory until you download it, so very long recordings need a lot of RAM.
