PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

usdc036.com is an impersonation phishing site whose domain borrows the name of the USDC stablecoin. The numbered suffix makes it look like one node in a series of lookalike addresses. It targets people who hold or trade USDC and might trust a site that appears tied to the token. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-09. The site has been offline since 2026-10-14, and its content was still blocked by the provider at the last check on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Stablecoin impersonation sites rely on the trust attached to a familiar token name. They typically invite visitors to connect a wallet, sign a transaction, enter a recovery phrase, or deposit USDC for promised yields or rewards. Once the victim approves a token allowance or hands over a seed phrase, the operators can move funds out of the wallet with no way to reverse it. The page title reads "onkeyon", which does not match the USDC branding in the domain, but we classified the site as impersonation phishing.

Evidence

Independent detection is thin. On 2026-10-13, VirusTotal showed 2 of 92 engines flagging the domain, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker and LevelBlue. The site appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have also tied it to malicious activity. PhishDestroy is the only blocklist carrying it, which means most browsers and security tools would not have warned a visitor while it was live.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2025-12-29 through Gname.com Pte. Ltd., more than nine months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap points to a domain registered in advance and held until it was needed, rather than one spun up and burned within days. Traffic ran through Cloudflare's network with a Canadian location, which hides the real origin server behind the proxy.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to usdc036.com, revoke every token approval granted during that session using a reputable allowance checker, and move any remaining USDC and other assets to a fresh wallet. If you typed in a seed phrase or private key, treat that wallet as compromised and empty it immediately. Do not pay any "unlock" or "verification" fee promised to restore access. Report any transfers you sent to your exchange and to local authorities. Defenders should block the domain and watch for sibling usdc-numbered lookalikes, which the naming pattern suggests may exist.
