stearmrip.com is a Steam impersonation phishing page. It presents itself as "STEAMRIP » Free Pre-installed Steam Games" and targets gamers looking for free downloads of Steam titles. The domain swaps letters in a familiar name, so a hasty typist or someone clicking a search result can land there without noticing. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-07, and it was still online and serving content on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The page title advertises free, pre-installed Steam games, which is a common lure for people who want paid titles without paying. Sites built this way use the Steam name to look trustworthy, then push visitors to sign in with Steam credentials or download installers that the operator controls. A captured login can give the operator the account, its game library and any inventory items, while a rigged download can put malware on the computer. The title describes a game-download portal, and we classified the site as impersonation of Steam.

Evidence

On 2026-10-15, 6 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and Sophos. That is a low count, but six independent vendors agreeing within weeks of registration still matters. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as spam, and it appears in 2 AlienVault OTX threat pulses. PhishDestroy carries it on its blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-09-29 through NICENIC INTERNATIONAL GROUP CO., LIMITED. It was flagged eight days later, which fits a site set up quickly to catch traffic. It sits behind Cloudflare in the US, so the real origin server is hidden behind the proxy.
