PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

sigmaclient.net is an impersonation phishing page dressed up as the official home of Sigma Client, a Minecraft mod. Its page title promises a "Free Download" for "Minecraft Mod Fabric 26.3" to catch players who search for the client by name. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-29. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its content.

How the scam works

Fake mod sites like this copy a popular client's name and branding, then rank or circulate in places where players look for downloads. The page offers the mod for free. Whatever the visitor downloads or types in comes from an operator who has nothing to do with the real project. In this kind of scheme victims typically lose control of their game, Microsoft, Discord or browser-stored accounts. If the file is malicious, they can also lose anything else on the machine, including saved credentials and crypto wallet data.

Evidence

Other security vendors back the classification. VirusTotal showed 14 of 91 engines flagging the domain on 2026-10-01, among them alphaMountain.ai, Certego, Chong Lua Dao, CRDF, CyRadar, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet and Gridinsoft. Spamhaus lists it in its domain blocklist under the phishing category (DBL_PHISH). AlienVault OTX references it in 9 threat pulses, so other researchers are tracking the same activity. PhishDestroy carries it on its blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-04-12 through Web Commerce Communications Limited (WebNic.cc), about five and a half months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap suggests a site that ran unnoticed for a while rather than one spun up for a single burst. It is hosted on a network operated by FEMO IT SOLUTIONS LIMITED in Germany. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gives the browser padlock but says nothing about who runs the site.

What to do

If you downloaded anything from this site, do not run it. If you already did, disconnect the machine and scan it fully with up-to-date security software. Then use a separate clean device to change the passwords for your Minecraft/Microsoft, Discord, email and any browser-saved accounts, enable two-factor authentication everywhere, and sign out of active sessions. If that computer held a crypto wallet, assume its keys may be exposed and move funds to a fresh wallet created on a clean device. Get mods only from the project's official channels. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and check endpoint logs for downloads from it.
