PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

safe-trustwallet.com is an impersonation phishing page posing as Trust Wallet, the self-custody mobile wallet. It targets Trust Wallet users. The "safe-" prefix is meant to make the address read like an official security or account-protection portal. PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-10-03, and as of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving live content.

How the scam works

Trust Wallet has no login and no password reset. Whoever holds the 12- or 24-word recovery phrase controls the funds. Pages like this one use security language as bait, warning of a locked, compromised or unverified wallet. They then ask the visitor to "secure" it by typing in the recovery phrase, importing a private key, or connecting the wallet and signing a request. Anything entered goes to the operators, who can move every asset out of the wallet within minutes, and those blockchain transfers cannot be reversed.

Evidence

Several independent sources back the classification. Six of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain on 2026-10-03: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft and URLQuery. That count is modest, so many security products will still let the page load without a warning. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL under the phishing category, and it appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy's own. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses also reference it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2025-09-30 through Web Commerce Communications Limited (WebNic.cc), roughly a year before PhishDestroy detected it. A long gap like that means the domain's age offers no reassurance about its legitimacy. It resolves to an address on the Trellian Pty. Limited network, an Australian provider, with the IP located in the United States. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gives it the browser padlock, which only means the connection is encrypted. It says nothing about who runs the site.

What to do

If you typed your recovery phrase or private key into this site, treat the wallet as compromised. Create a new wallet with a fresh phrase on a trusted device and move any remaining funds there immediately. If you connected a wallet or signed anything, review and revoke token approvals granted during that session. Never enter your phrase on any website, whatever it claims about security. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level, match on lookalike patterns combining "trustwallet" with words like "safe" or "secure", and report the live page to the hosting provider and registrar for takedown.
