PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

mundial-segurosoat.top is an impersonation phishing page posing as the online SOAT storefront of Seguros Mundial, a Colombian insurer. Its page title reads "SOAT Online | Seguros Mundial Colombia", which aims it squarely at drivers renewing or buying Colombia's mandatory vehicle accident insurance. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-06. When last checked on 2026-10-19, its content was unreachable, but the domain itself remains registered and could return.

How the scam works

Fake SOAT sites copy the insurer's branding and offer a quick policy purchase, often at a tempting discount. The visitor enters a licence plate, personal details such as ID number, name and address, and then payment card data or online banking credentials to "pay" for the policy. No valid policy is issued. The victim loses the money and leaves their identity and card details with the operators, and may drive believing they are insured when they are not.

Evidence

On 2026-10-10, 15 of 92 VirusTotal engines marked the domain as malicious, including BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, CRDF and alphaMountain.ai. Agreement across that many independent vendors within days of launch is a strong signal. Spamhaus lists the domain on its DBL as spam, and it appears in two AlienVault OTX threat pulses alongside the PhishDestroy blocklist entry.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-09-30 through NICENIC INTERNATIONAL GROUP CO., LIMITED and was already flagged as phishing six days later, a pattern typical of throwaway domains built for a single campaign. The site was hosted on Contabo's network, at an address that geolocates to France, far from the Colombian audience it targets. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gives the padlock icon, but that only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about who runs the site.

What to do

If you entered card details on this site, call your bank right away to block the card and dispute the charge. If you entered online banking credentials, change that password and enable two-factor authentication. Check that your vehicle actually has a valid SOAT through Seguros Mundial's official channels or the national RUNT registry, and buy the policy only from the insurer directly. Expect follow-up calls or messages that use your leaked ID number, and do not share any verification codes. Security teams should block the domain at DNS and proxy level, watch for similar SOAT-themed lookalike domains, and report sightings to Seguros Mundial.
