PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

fmpafrica.com.ng serves a page titled MODERN SCHOOL PORTAL on a Nigerian .com.ng domain. PhishDestroy classifies it as impersonation phishing aimed at people who expect to sign in to an education or school-management portal. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-10. The site was still online with its content live on 2026-10-19. The page presents itself as a generic school portal, and we classified it as impersonation phishing.

How the scam works

Fake school portals copy the login screens students, parents and staff already use for results, fee payments and registration. A victim follows a link, sees a familiar-looking sign-in form and enters a username, password or student ID, which goes straight to the operator. Pages like this often add a payment step for fees or result checks, which can expose card or bank details. Stolen portal logins can then be reused on email and other accounts that share the same password.

Evidence

On 2026-09-12, 6 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a minority of engines, but several of them are independent web-filtering and threat-intel vendors. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as spam. It also appears in 4 AlienVault OTX pulses, so other researchers have tracked it as well. Among blocklists, it is currently carried by PhishDestroy.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through HostAfrica on 2023-10-26, almost three years before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap means it is not a freshly registered throwaway, so age-based filters may not flag it. It resolves to 163.61.188.2, an address geolocated to the US on a network registered to NEW DHAKA HARDWARE in Bangladesh. The site uses a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the padlock in the browser says nothing about whether the page is genuine.

What to do

If you entered a login on this page, change that password immediately on the real school portal. Also change it on any email or account where you reused it, and turn on two-factor authentication where it is offered. If you paid a fee or typed card or bank details, contact your bank to block the card and dispute the charge. Tell your school's administration so they can warn other parents and students. Defenders should block the domain and its IP and look for portal-themed lures in mail logs.
