PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

chaingfopoint.com is an impersonation phishing page that presents itself under the GFO-X name, targeting crypto traders who expect to reach that platform. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-23, one day after the domain was registered. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its phishing content.

How the scam works

The page carries the title "GFO-X" on a domain with no connection to that brand. The domain wraps the brand fragment "gfo" in generic words like "chain" and "point" so it looks plausible in a search result, ad or direct message. Impersonation pages like this typically ask visitors to sign in, deposit funds or connect a wallet to a convincing copy of the real interface. Anything entered goes to the operators: credentials can be used to hijack accounts, deposits are not recoverable, and wallet signatures can hand over control of tokens.

Evidence

Wallet-security blocklists back the classification. MetaMask and SEAL list the domain alongside PhishDestroy, so many wallet users will see a warning before the page loads. On 2026-10-03, 11 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged it, including BitDefender, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, Lionic, CRDF and alphaMountain.ai. That is a modest share of engines, so some browsers and filters may still let it through. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses also reference the domain.

Infrastructure

Registration on 2026-09-22 and detection the next day point to a freshly created domain used almost immediately, a common pattern for short-lived phishing campaigns. The domain is registered through Cloudflare, Inc. and resolves to Cloudflare's network, geolocated to Canada, which hides the origin server behind a shared proxy. A Let's Encrypt certificate supplies the padlock icon, which says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

If you entered a GFO-X login or email password here, change it immediately on the genuine service and anywhere you reused it, and enable app-based 2FA. If you connected a wallet or signed anything, revoke token approvals for unfamiliar spenders with a trusted approval checker, and move remaining assets to a fresh wallet if you shared a seed phrase. Do not send further funds in response to messages promising refunds or account recovery. Reach GFO-X only by typing its official address yourself. Defenders should block chaingfopoint.com at DNS and proxy level and search mail and chat logs for the domain to find users who were exposed.
