PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

syntax-pages.xyz is an impersonation phishing page that presents itself as "Home | Dapps Leading Synthetic Protocol," a generic-sounding DeFi front end for synthetic assets. It targets crypto holders who are looking for a synthetic-asset platform and expect a familiar dapp interface. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-07. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its content.

How the scam works

Fake dapp front ends like this copy the look and wording of a real DeFi protocol so that visitors treat the page as the platform itself. The usual prompt is to connect a wallet to "trade," "stake" or "claim." The page then asks the victim to sign a transaction or approval that hands control of their tokens to the operator, or to type in a recovery phrase under the guise of a sync or verification step. Either path can empty the wallet, and on-chain transfers cannot be reversed.

Evidence

On 2026-10-11, 6 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and VIPRE. That is a minority of engines, but it comes from several unrelated vendors. ScamSniffer, a blocklist focused on Web3 scams, lists the domain alongside PhishDestroy. It also appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tracked it independently.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-06-28 through Global Domain Group LLC, roughly three months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap leaves time for a domain to sit unnoticed before it is put to use. The site sits behind Cloudflare, Inc., with the edge address geolocating to Canada, so the IP shows Cloudflare's network and the real origin server stays hidden. The cheap .xyz extension and a name loosely echoing "synthetic" fit the throwaway domains commonly used for this kind of lure.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to this site, use a token-approval checker to revoke any permissions you granted, and move remaining funds to a fresh wallet. If you entered a seed phrase, treat that wallet as fully compromised and transfer the assets right away. Reach synthetic-asset protocols only through bookmarks or their verified official channels, never through links or search ads. Defenders should block syntax-pages.xyz at DNS and the web proxy, and check logs for users who visited it after 2026-10-07.
