How the scam works
This is a recovery scam, which goes after people who have already lost money. The site borrows the look of an official helpline or legal service and promises to trace and recover stolen crypto. Once a victim makes contact, schemes like this usually ask for upfront payments described as fees, taxes, deposits or "unlocking" charges. They may also ask for ID documents, wallet details or remote access to the victim's device. No funds are ever returned, so the victim loses money a second time and often hands over personal data that can be used for later scams.
Evidence
On 2026-09-29, 7 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, Kaspersky and SOCRadar. That is a low detection rate, so many browsers and filters may still let the page load without a warning. The MetaMask and SEAL blocklists list the domain alongside PhishDestroy, and four AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it, so several independent sources have identified it as malicious.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through Spaceship, Inc. on 2026-09-09, only eight days before PhishDestroy detected it. A quick launch after registration like this is typical of short-lived fraud sites.
