They pose as an official helpline or legal counsel and claim the stolen funds can be traced and returned. The victim is then asked for upfront 'recovery', 'legal' or 'tax' fees. Many of these schemes also collect identity documents, wallet details or remote access to the victim's computer. The money paid is never returned, and someone already defrauded loses a second time.
Evidence
On 2026-09-29, 9 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, including alphaMountain.ai, Bfore.Ai PreCrime, CRDF, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft and Kaspersky.
