PhishDestroy threat report
codex-notes.com is classified by PhishDestroy as an impersonation phishing page. It presents itself as "Codex Notes | Software Documentation & Refactoring Best Practices," a developer-oriented title likely to attract programmers and technically minded crypto users. That title suggests a harmless documentation blog, while our classification is impersonation phishing. PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-10-13, and as of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and redirecting visitors elsewhere.
Impersonation pages borrow the look or name of something familiar so visitors lower their guard. A polished documentation front gives the domain credibility in search results, in links shared on developer forums, and in direct messages. The redirect seen on 2026-10-19 matters because a visitor who lands on the clean-looking title page can be sent on to a different destination. Pages like this typically end in a login form, a fake download, or a request to connect a wallet, and anything entered there goes straight to the operators.
On 2026-10-13, ten of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. Named detections include alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, Certego, CRDF, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft and Seclookup. That is a minority of engines, but the detections span several unrelated vendors, so this is not a single outlier verdict. CryptoFirewall lists the domain alongside PhishDestroy, and it appears in three AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which shows other researchers have tracked it independently.
The domain was registered on 2026-08-21 through Fewmoretaps OU d/b/a Trustname.com, about seven and a half weeks before PhishDestroy detected it. That interval fits a pattern of aging a domain and building a believable front before using it. The site sits behind Cloudflare (AS13335) on a US address, which hides the actual origin server. Its certificate comes from Google Trust Services (WE1), so the padlock in the browser says nothing about whether the site is trustworthy.
If you typed a username, password or email into anything reached through codex-notes.com, change that password immediately, including on every other site where you reuse it. Then turn on app-based two-factor authentication. Never enter a wallet recovery phrase or private key on a site you reached through a documentation link. If you downloaded a file, delete it and scan the machine. Security teams should block the domain at DNS and the web proxy, add its redirect behaviour to their detection logic, and search logs for users who visited after 2026-08-21.
