PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

bigagnesgear.shop is a fake online shop that borrows the identity of Big Agnes, the outdoor brand known for tents, sleeping bags and camp pads. Its page opens with the brand's own tagline, "The Mother of Comfort | Big Agnes", to pass as an official store or authorised reseller. It targets hikers and campers hunting for discounted gear. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-16, and the shop was still online and serving its storefront on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fake gear shops copy a real brand's look and list popular products at prices well below retail. That creates urgency and makes the risk feel worth it. At checkout the buyer enters card details, a billing address and contact information. In schemes like this the order usually never ships, or a cheap item unrelated to the purchase arrives. The victim loses the payment, and the card data and personal details can be reused for further fraud or targeted spam.

Evidence

Nine of 92 VirusTotal engines flag the domain, including alphaMountain.ai, Chong Lua Dao, CRDF, CyRadar, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft and LevelBlue. That count is modest, but it comes from several unrelated vendors. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and specifically identified the page as a fake shop, which matches our classification. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as spam. It also appears in three AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers are tracking it too.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc. on 2026-05-27, about four and a half months before PhishDestroy detected it. A gap like that often means the domain was set up ahead of time and switched on later. The site is hosted at 46.245.239.106 on the Malakmadze Web LLC network in Georgia. It uses a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the browser padlock only shows the connection is encrypted and says nothing about whether the seller is genuine.

What to do

If you ordered from bigagnesgear.shop, call your card issuer now. Report the charge as fraud, ask for a chargeback and request a replacement card. Watch your statements for small test charges that can follow a stolen card. Expect phishing emails or texts that use your order details, and do not reply to messages about "delivery problems" or refunds. Security teams should block the domain and its IP at the web proxy, and report the impersonation so the domain can be taken down.
