PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

betterbeerhq.shop presents itself as a beer retailer under the name Better Beer, with a homepage titled "Home | Better Beer." PhishDestroy classifies it as an e-commerce scam: a fake online shop aimed at consumers buying beer or brewing products online. We first detected it on 2026-10-13. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its storefront.

How the scam works

Fake shops like this copy the look of a real store, with product listings, discounts and a checkout page, to get visitors to pay. The buyer enters card or payment details and either receives nothing or receives something cheap and unrelated, and the shop stops answering. Victims lose the purchase amount, and the card details and address they typed into the checkout can be reused for further fraud. A friendly, craft-sounding brand like Better Beer helps the storefront pass a quick glance.

Evidence

Seven of 92 VirusTotal engines flag the domain. The vendors are alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, ESET, G-Data, Gridinsoft, Netcraft and Webroot, as of 2026-10-13. That count is modest, but these are independent vendors, and Netcraft in particular specializes in fraud sites. urlscan.io rates the site malicious and specifically marks it as a fake shop. The domain also appears in three AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tracked it as well.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc. on 2026-05-16, about five months before we detected it. That gap is long enough for the shop to have been taking orders, or to have been held in reserve, before anyone flagged it. It is hosted at 46.245.239.133 on the Malakmadze Web LLC network, which is registered in Georgia while the IP geolocates to the United States. The free Let's Encrypt certificate only means the connection is encrypted; it says nothing about whether the shop is genuine.

What to do

If you paid on betterbeerhq.shop, contact your bank or card issuer right away to dispute the charge and ask for a replacement card. If you used PayPal or a similar service, open a buyer-protection claim there. Watch your statements for unfamiliar charges. If you created an account with a password you use elsewhere, change it on those other services. Defenders should block the domain and its IP at the web proxy or DNS level and add it to e-commerce fraud filters.
