Overview

akuwoodpanelstore.shop poses as a storefront called Aku Woodpanel, selling three-sided acoustic wood slat wall panels. It targets homeowners, interior designers and small renovation buyers looking for discounted decor panels. PhishDestroy classifies it as an e-commerce scam and first saw it on 2026-10-06. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its shop pages.

How the scam works

The page title, "High-Quality Acoustic Wood Slat Wall Panels | 3-Sided | Aku Woodpanel", reads like a niche manufacturer's catalogue. Shops of this kind usually lure buyers with prices well below the market rate, then take card or bank payments for goods that are never shipped. Some send a cheap substitute or a fake tracking number to delay chargebacks. Victims lose the purchase amount, and they also hand over their name, address, phone and payment details, which can be reused for later fraud.

Evidence

On 2026-10-19, VirusTotal showed five of 92 engines flagging the domain: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, LevelBlue and SOCRadar. That count is low, which is typical for fresh fake shops, so most browser warnings will not stop a shopper yet. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and identified the page as a fake shop. The domain also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tied it to fraud activity as well.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc. on 2026-04-09, about six months before PhishDestroy detected it. Fake shops often register domains early and leave them idle before launching. The server sits on the network of Malakmadze Web LLC, a provider registered in Georgia, while the IP address geolocates to the United States.
