PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

blockshieldscan.app is an impersonation phishing page that presents itself as a BlockShield wallet-scanning service under the title "Check a wallet — BlockShield". It targets cryptocurrency holders who want to know whether their wallet is safe or compromised. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-10-07. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its phishing content.

How the scam works

Fake wallet checkers exploit people who are already worried about their funds. The visitor is invited to check a wallet, and the free scan becomes the hook. These pages usually ask the visitor to connect a wallet and approve a request, or to type in a recovery phrase or private key so the tool can verify ownership. A signed approval can let the operators move tokens, and a revealed seed phrase gives them full control of the wallet. A real security scanner never needs your recovery phrase, and it never needs a signature that grants spending rights.

Evidence

Wallet security teams have independently flagged the domain. MetaMask and SEAL both list it alongside PhishDestroy. On VirusTotal, 10 of 92 engines flagged it as of 2026-10-11, including alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft and Kaspersky. That is a minority of engines, but the vendors behind those verdicts are well known. The domain also appears in 3 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which shows other researchers are tracking it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through URL Solutions Inc. on 2026-09-23, only 14 days before PhishDestroy caught it. That short gap is typical of throwaway domains bought for a single campaign. The site sits behind Cloudflare in the US, which hides the server that actually hosts the page. It uses a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the browser padlock only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about whether the site is honest.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to this site, use a token-approval checker to revoke any permissions you granted. Move your assets to a fresh wallet if you signed anything you did not understand. If you entered a recovery phrase or private key, treat that wallet as compromised and transfer the remaining funds to a new wallet with a newly generated seed right away. Report the site to your wallet provider. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level, add it to wallet and browser blocklists, and warn users that legitimate scanners never ask for seed phrases.
