PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

blockshieldcheck.app presents itself as BlockShield, using the page title "Check a wallet — BlockShield" to look like a legitimate wallet-screening tool. It targets crypto holders who want to know whether a wallet is safe, which is exactly the moment people are most willing to connect a wallet or share details. PhishDestroy first saw the site on 2026-10-07. It was still online and serving live content when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fake wallet-checker pages offer a free safety scan, then ask the visitor to connect their wallet or type in a recovery phrase to run the check. Connecting can trigger signature or approval requests that let the operators move tokens. A recovery phrase hands over full control of the wallet. Either way, the victim loses the assets the scan was supposed to protect, and borrowing BlockShield's name is what makes the request feel routine.

Evidence

On 2026-10-11, 9 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. The flagging vendors include BitDefender, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft, Kaspersky and SOCRadar, a spread of independent vendors rather than a single outlier. MetaMask and SEAL list it alongside PhishDestroy, so wallet-side warnings already exist for users of those tools. The domain also appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-09-23 through URL Solutions Inc., just 14 days before PhishDestroy detected it. That pattern fits a short-lived site set up for a specific campaign. Traffic is served through Cloudflare, Inc., with the address geolocated to Canada, so the site's real origin server is hidden behind the proxy. It uses a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the padlock in the browser says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

If you connected a wallet on this site, revoke any token approvals granted around the time of your visit with a trusted approval-management tool, and move remaining funds if you signed anything you did not understand. If you entered a recovery phrase, treat that wallet as compromised: create a new wallet with a fresh phrase and transfer your assets immediately. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level, add it to wallet and browser warning lists, and report it to Cloudflare and URL Solutions Inc. for takedown.
