bigagnesoutdoors.shop is a fraudulent storefront that borrows the name and look of Big Agnes, the American maker of tents, sleeping bags and pads. Its tab reads "The Mother of Comfort | Big Agnes," a title built to pass as the real brand's store in search results and social ads. It targets campers and backpackers searching for a deal on premium gear. PhishDestroy first flagged the site on 2026-10-16, and it was still online and serving its shop content on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fake shops like this copy a brand's product photos and descriptions, then list items at steep discounts to push quick checkouts. The buyer enters a shipping address and card details, pays, and then receives nothing, a cheap counterfeit, or an unrelated item sent only to generate a tracking number. Victims lose the purchase price and hand over card and personal data that can be reused for further fraud. Using the .shop extension and adding "outdoors" to the brand name makes the address look like an official regional store.

Evidence

urlscan.io rated the site malicious and specifically flagged it as a fake shop, which directly supports our classification. On VirusTotal, 5 of 92 engines flagged it as of 2026-10-19: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, LevelBlue and Netcraft. That count is low, so most security tools will not yet warn visitors. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as spam, and it appears in one AlienVault OTX threat pulse.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc. on 2026-05-10, about five months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap suggests it was either kept in reserve or ran quietly before it drew attention. The site is hosted on the Malakmadze Web LLC network in Georgia, far from the brand it imitates. A free Let's Encrypt certificate supplies the padlock icon, which shows only that the connection is encrypted, not that the shop is real.

What to do

If you paid on this site, contact your card issuer right away, report the charge as fraud and request a chargeback. Ask for a replacement card if you entered card details, even when no purchase went through. Watch for phishing emails or texts that use your order details or claim to be shipping updates. Buy Big Agnes products only through the brand's own site or authorized retailers you reach on your own. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and web proxies and report it to payment processors and the brand's legal team.
