How the scam works
The site copies the look and branding of a real gear retailer, then lists products at prices well below what Big Agnes or authorized dealers charge, which pushes visitors to buy quickly. At checkout the shopper enters a shipping address and card details. Shops of this type usually send nothing, or send a cheap item that bears no resemblance to the order. The victim loses the payment and also exposes card data and personal details that can be reused for further fraud.
Evidence
On 2026-10-16, seven of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, ESET, Fortinet, G-Data, LevelBlue, Netcraft and Webroot. That count is modest, but the mix of established security vendors and Netcraft's fraud focus makes it significant for a new shop. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and specifically identified it as a fake shop. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as spam, and it appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through Spaceship, Inc. on 2026-05-08, about five months before PhishDestroy detected it. That is enough time to build the storefront and start drawing traffic before security vendors caught up. It is hosted on the Malakmadze Web LLC network in Georgia, an odd location for a brand-name gear retailer. The Let's Encrypt certificate gives the site a padlock, but that shows only that the connection is encrypted, not that the seller is genuine.
What to do
If you paid on this site, contact your card issuer or bank right away to dispute the charge as fraud and request a replacement card. Watch your statements for unfamiliar transactions. Be wary of follow-up emails or texts about your "order," because these often lead to more phishing. If you want Big Agnes products, buy only from the brand's official store or a known retailer. Security teams should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and report it to payment processors so they can halt merchant activity.
