How the scam works
The page title, "Baofeng -> The Official Baofeng Store | Get the Latest Baofeng News | Baofeng," borrows the manufacturer's name so the site looks like a factory outlet. Shops like this usually list popular models at discounts too steep for a legitimate reseller to match. Buyers then enter card details, billing address and contact information at checkout. Victims typically lose the purchase price and receive nothing, a cheap substitute, or an untraceable shipment. The card and personal details they typed in can also be reused for further fraud.
Evidence
Ten of 92 VirusTotal engines flag the domain as of 2026-10-12. The vendors include alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft, LevelBlue and Netcraft. That is a modest count, but it spans several established security vendors. urlscan.io rates the site malicious and specifically identifies it as a fake shop. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as spam, and it appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses alongside the PhishDestroy blocklist.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc. on 2026-04-21, about five and a half months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap suggests the name was registered well in advance and held until the shop went live. The site is hosted on the network of Malakmadze Web LLC, a provider registered in Georgia, while the server itself geolocates to the United States.
