atovio.shop presents itself as a retailer called Atovio, advertising "India's Most Effective Portable Air Purifiers" to shoppers in India. PhishDestroy classifies it as an e-commerce scam, a fake online shop rather than a real store. We first flagged it on 2026-10-08, and it was still online and serving its storefront when last checked on 2026-10-19.
How the scam works
Fake shops like this one target a product people buy quickly and on impulse. Portable air purifiers sell well in India during pollution spikes, and steep "discounts" can make a buyer skip the usual checks. The victim chooses a product, enters a delivery address, phone number and card or UPI details, and pays. The usual result is that nothing arrives, a cheap item unlike the one advertised turns up, or the money disappears behind unanswered support messages. The payment and personal details collected at checkout can also be reused for further fraud.
Evidence
Eight of 92 security engines on VirusTotal flagged the domain on 2026-10-08. The vendors were alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft, Netcraft and Webroot. That is a modest share, but it comes from several unrelated vendors. urlscan.io rated the site malicious and specifically identified it as a fake shop. Spamhaus lists the domain on its DBL as spam, and it appears on the PhishDestroy blocklist.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc. on 2026-04-18, almost six months before we detected it. That gap is long enough for a storefront to build up some search presence or run ads before anyone flags it. The site is hosted on the Malakmadze Web LLC network in the United States, which is an unusual choice for a shop aimed at Indian buyers. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gives the padlock icon, but that only means the connection is encrypted. It says nothing about whether the seller is legitimate.
What to do
If you paid on atovio.shop, contact your bank or card issuer now to dispute the charge and request a chargeback, and block the card if they advise it. If you paid by UPI, report the transaction to your payment app. Expect follow-up calls, SMS or emails about "delivery problems" or refunds that ask for more payments or OTPs, and ignore them. Security teams should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and search logs for visits or checkout traffic to it.
