PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

onchnia.qpon is an impersonation phishing page that presents itself as "OnChnia," a crypto investment platform, and is aimed at people looking to grow their crypto holdings. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-14. As of 2026-10-19 the domain still responds, but its content-serving DNS is inactive, so the operators can switch the page back on at any time.

How the scam works

Sites like OnChnia mimic a legitimate trading or yield service and show a polished dashboard with growing "balances" to win trust. Victims are encouraged to deposit crypto or connect a wallet. When they try to cash out, they face invented obstacles such as taxes, verification charges or "withdrawal fees" that must be paid first. The displayed profits are not real, and every deposit or fee goes straight to the scammers. A connected wallet can also be prompted to sign transfers or token approvals.

Evidence

Eight of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain on 2026-10-18: alphaMountain.ai, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Google Safe Browsing, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and VIPRE. That count is modest, but it spans unrelated vendors that reached the same verdict independently. Google Safe Browsing lists it for social engineering. urlscan.io rated it malicious and tagged it as both an investment scam and a crypto scam. The MetaMask and SEAL blocklists carry it alongside PhishDestroy, and three AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-04-17 through Gname.com Pte. Ltd., about 180 days before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap suggests it was registered in advance and held until a campaign was ready. Traffic runs through Cloudflare's network in the US, which hides the real origin server. The cheap .qpon extension and a free Let's Encrypt certificate made the site quick and inexpensive to stand up, while the padlock gives it a false look of legitimacy.

What to do

If you deposited funds, do not pay any further "fee" or "tax" to unlock a withdrawal, because nothing will be released. Gather your transaction hashes and report the theft to your local police and to the exchange you sent from. If you connected a wallet, check and revoke any token approvals, and move your remaining assets to a fresh wallet if you signed anything you did not understand. Be wary of follow-up "recovery" offers, which are a common second scam. Defenders should block onchnia.qpon at DNS and proxy level and watch for lookalike domains reusing the OnChnia name.
