PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

rainbetwetten.ch presents itself as the official Swiss home of Rainbet, with a German-language page titled "Rainbet - Offizieller Sportwetten & Casino Anbieter in der Schweiz." PhishDestroy classifies it as a gambling site flagged as fraudulent. It is aimed at Swiss and German-speaking sports bettors and casino players, especially those who fund accounts with crypto. We first saw it on 2026-09-02, and it was still online and serving content on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The Swiss .ch domain and the word "wetten" (betting) make the site look like a local, licensed branch of the Rainbet brand. Fraudulent gambling sites of this kind take deposits, often in crypto, and show a growing balance or winnings to keep the player invested. When the player tries to cash out, withdrawals stall behind invented verification steps, "unlock" fees or minimum turnover rules that never end. Every deposit, and any fee paid to release funds, is lost.

Evidence

Six of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain on 2026-09-16: ChainPatrol, alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and VIPRE. That count is modest, but the flags come from vendors that independently track crypto fraud and malicious web content. The domain is also listed by MetaMask and SEAL, two crypto-focused blocklists, in addition to PhishDestroy. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it as well, so other researchers are tracking it too.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-05-25, roughly 100 days before we detected it. That gap leaves room to build out the fake storefront before promoting it. The site sits behind Cloudflare, with the address resolving to a Cloudflare network registered in Canada, so the real hosting location of the operator stays hidden. Its certificate comes from Google Trust Services, an automated issuer. The padlock only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about whether the operator is legitimate.

What to do

Do not deposit on rainbetwetten.ch, and do not pay any withdrawal, tax or verification fee it demands. Paying more will not release your balance. If you sent crypto, keep the transaction hashes, deposit addresses and chat logs, then report them to your exchange and to the police. If you uploaded ID documents or reused a password, change that password elsewhere and watch for identity misuse. Security teams should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and flag its name and the Rainbet branding in Swiss-targeted ad and social media monitoring.

Questions about rainbetwetten.ch

Is rainbetwetten.ch legit?

This domain markets casino/gambling services. Scam casinos routinely display fake Curaçao, MGA, or Kahnawake license badges that don’t exist in the real registries. Always verify the license number against the official regulator database before depositing. Recommendations & Advice for Victims

Choose the steps that match what you shared. Keep a copy of this report alongside your own records.

What should I do immediately?

Urgent

Stop using the suspicious site. Open the real service through its official app or an address you already trust.

  • Change all passwords — email, exchange accounts, anything that shares the same password
  • Enable 2FA using an authenticator app (not SMS). Disable SMS-based recovery
  • Freeze cards if you entered banking details on the phishing site

What information should I collect for my report?

FBI guidelines

Keep original emails, receipts, messages and screenshots in a secure place. A factual timeline helps the receiving authority understand what happened. IC3 evidence guidance ↗

  • Payment records — if you paid, save the receipt, amount, date, payment provider and recipient details.
  • Exact dates & times — of each transaction and first contact with scammer
  • Screenshots — scam website, chat messages, emails, wallet transactions, social media
  • All URLs & domains used by the scammer (including rainbetwetten.ch)
  • Communications — emails, texts, phone numbers, usernames the scammer used

Even if you don't have all details — file a report anyway. Partial information still helps investigations.

Where should I report the scam?

  • FBI IC3 — Internet Crime Complaint Center (US federal reporting)
  • Europol — European cybercrime reporting (EU)
  • Your bank or payment provider — contact its fraud team promptly through official contact details if money or card information was exposed.
  • Local police — creates an official record, even if they can't act immediately

A report is not a guarantee of recovery or investigation, but prompt, accurate transaction data can help authorities and service providers trace the incident.

How do phishing scams typically work?

  • Fake websites — pixel-perfect clones of legitimate sites with slightly altered domains
  • Pig butchering — trust built over weeks via Telegram/WhatsApp/dating apps, then money stolen
  • Recovery scams — fraudsters pose as recovery agents and demand upfront fees. Never share a seed phrase or pay before independently verifying the provider
  • AI-powered scams — deepfakes, automated phishing, and AI-generated sites making fraud harder to detect

How can I protect myself in the future?

  • Bookmark official sites — never click links from emails, DMs, or ads
  • Verify domains — check on PhishDestroy before interacting. Check HTTPS, spelling, domain age
  • "Too good to be true" = scam — guaranteed returns, celebrity endorsements, urgent deadlines
