FAQ

How does it split text into words?

It lowercases the text and treats runs of Latin or Cyrillic letters and digits as words, ignoring punctuation. Other letters, such as é or ß, split a word, and "don't" becomes "don" and "t".

Can it ignore common words like "the"?

There is no stop-word list; raise Min length (for example to 4) to hide short words. The total shown above the table still counts every word, including the hidden short ones.

Is the text uploaded?

No. Counting happens in your browser when you press Count; the text does not leave the page.
