ULID Generator

Runs locally

Use ULID Generator

What it does

Generate ULIDs, identifiers that begin with their creation time so they sort chronologically as plain text, in upper or lower case.

It runs entirely in your browser: nothing you enter is uploaded.

Example

Five ULIDs, one per line; the first 10 characters encode the current time, so IDs made in the same millisecond share that prefix.

FAQ

What is inside a ULID?

The first 10 characters encode the Unix time in milliseconds (48 bits) and the remaining 16 are random (80 bits), written in Crockford Base32, which leaves out I, L, O and U. Because the time comes first, sorting ULIDs as text sorts them by creation time.

Are IDs from the same millisecond in order?

Not necessarily: every ID gets fresh random bits, and the optional monotonic mode of the ULID spec, which increments the random part within one millisecond, is not used. The timestamp also reveals when an ID was created, so avoid ULIDs where that matters.

Is anything sent to a server?

No. The IDs are built in your browser from the clock and crypto.getRandomValues, and nothing is uploaded.
