PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

mtoken.help is an impersonation phishing site that presented itself as a "Wallet Verification" page aimed at cryptocurrency wallet holders. The ".help" ending and the support-style title are built to look like an official assistance or security check. PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-10-16. It went offline on 2026-10-19 and was still unreachable at the last check that day.

How the scam works

Fake "verification" pages usually reach victims through support-themed messages, direct messages or replies claiming the wallet needs to be validated, synced or unlocked. The page then asks the visitor to type in a recovery phrase or private key, or to connect the wallet and sign a request presented as routine. A recovery phrase gives the operators full control of the wallet, so they can empty it at once. A signed approval can let them move tokens later without asking again. No legitimate wallet provider asks users to verify a wallet by entering a seed phrase on a website.

Evidence

Independent detection is thin. On 2026-10-16, only 1 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, and that engine was CRDF. The domain also appears in 3 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which shows other researchers tracked it as malicious activity. PhishDestroy lists it on its blocklist. Because so few vendors caught it, most browser and antivirus protections would likely have let a visitor through while the page was live.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through NameSilo, LLC on 2026-06-06, about four months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap suggests it may have been held in reserve before being put to use. The site sat behind Cloudflare, with a US-based edge address. Cloudflare's network hides the actual origin server, so the site's real host cannot be seen from the outside.

What to do

If you typed a recovery phrase or private key into this page, treat that wallet as compromised. Create a new wallet with a fresh phrase on a trusted device and move any remaining assets to it immediately. If you connected a wallet or signed anything, use a token-approval checker to review and revoke unfamiliar approvals, and watch for unexpected outgoing transfers. Be suspicious of any message that sends you to a "verification" page, even now that this one is down, because the same lure often comes back on new domains. Security teams should block the domain, search mail and chat logs for links to it, and warn users that real wallet providers never ask for seed phrases.
