PhishDestroy threat report
excel-micro.wasmer.app is a credential phishing page built around an "Excelpdfdownload" lure, a fake prompt to open or download an Excel or PDF file. It targets people who receive shared-document links by email or chat and are asked to log in before viewing the file. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-11. The site has been offline since 2026-10-03, and at the last check on 2026-10-19 its root returned no content.
The victim arrives expecting a spreadsheet or PDF and is shown a page titled "Sign in to your account", which mimics the login gate of a document or email service. The username and password typed there go to the operators, not to any real provider. With those credentials they can take over the mailbox, read and reuse its contents, reset passwords on linked services, and send the same document lure to the victim's contacts.
VirusTotal shows 18 of 89 engines flagging the page as of 2026-09-20. The vendors include BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, G-Data, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, alphaMountain.ai, CyRadar and Criminal IP. A spread of independent commercial engines like this points to a confirmed phishing page rather than a single heuristic false positive. urlscan.io independently rated the page malicious and recognized the Excelpdfdownload brand lure. It is listed on the PhishDestroy blocklist.
The page sat on a subdomain of wasmer.app, a hosting platform where users can deploy their own apps. That parent domain was registered on 2018-10-16 through Wasmer, so the date reflects the platform's age, not when the attacker set up this page. Traffic resolved to Scaleway SAS in France. Using a free platform subdomain lets an operator launch quickly under a domain that inherits the platform's reputation, which is why the phishing content itself has to be judged on its own.
If you entered a password on this page, change it right away on the real service, and on every other account that shares it. Turn on two-factor authentication and sign out all active sessions. Check your mailbox for forwarding rules, new app passwords or connected apps you did not add, and warn contacts in case the lure was sent from your account. Defenders should block the hostname, search mail and proxy logs for visits since 2026-09-11, and force credential resets for any user who reached it.
