PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

This site was an impersonation phishing page titled "Meta for Business | Page Appeal". It targeted people who run business pages and ad accounts by posing as Meta's appeal process. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-01. It has been offline since 2026-09-13, and the content was blocked by the hosting provider, which was still the case when we last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fake appeal pages usually start with a warning sent by message or email: your page has been restricted or will be deleted unless you appeal right away. The link leads to a convincing "Page Appeal" form branded as Meta for Business. The form asks for your login email, password and often a two-factor code. With those details the operators can take over the personal profile and every business page, ad account and payment method attached to it, then resell the access or use it to run fraudulent ads.

Evidence

Google Safe Browsing flagged the site as social engineering, so browsers using that service would have shown a warning. PhishDestroy lists it on our own blocklist. When VirusTotal checked it on 2026-09-13, none of its 89 engines flagged it. That gap is typical of short-lived phishing pages and shows why a clean VirusTotal result does not mean a site is safe.

Infrastructure

The page ran as a randomly named subdomain on Cloudflare Pages, a free static hosting service. It resolved to Cloudflare, Inc. network space geolocated to Canada. The listed creation date of 2026-09-02 comes one day after PhishDestroy first saw the site. That fits a disposable deployment that can be created and replaced within hours. Its Google Trust Services certificate was issued automatically, so the browser padlock showed only that the connection was encrypted, not that the page was legitimate.

What to do

If you entered credentials on this page, change your Facebook password right away and reset two-factor authentication. Sign out of every other active session. In Meta Business settings, check for unfamiliar admins, partners, ad accounts and payment methods, and remove any you don't recognize. Report any unauthorized ad charges to your card issuer. Remember that real page appeals are handled inside Meta's own interface, never through outside links. Defenders should block this hostname, watch for random-looking pages.dev subdomains that use Meta branding, and train social media and marketing staff to recognize urgent "page appeal" messages.
