Overview

wormgpt.ai poses as WormGPT, the AI tool marketed as having no content restrictions, under the banner "WormGPT — Unrestricted AI: Uncensored Chat & Code". It targets people looking for that kind of tool, an audience that is unlikely to complain when a purchase goes wrong. PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-09-26. The site was still online with its content live when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Impersonation sites trading on the WormGPT name promise access to an AI that will write anything, including code, and then put that access behind a sign-up or a paid plan. Payment is commonly requested in cryptocurrency, which cannot be reversed. A buyer may get nothing, a generic chatbot, or an account that exists only to collect their email, password and payment details. Victims lose the money they sent and any credentials they reused on the site.

Evidence

On 2026-10-07, 14 of 92 VirusTotal engines classified the domain as malicious. The flagging vendors include ADMINUSLabs, alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, Bkav, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet and G-Data. The domain also appears in 22 AlienVault OTX pulses, so other researchers have independently tracked it. Among the blocklists covered here, it is listed by PhishDestroy.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2025-11-05 through HOSTINGER operations, UAB, almost eleven months before PhishDestroy detected it. That long run suggests a site built to trade on the brand over time, not a throwaway page. It is served from 216.150.1.1 on Amazon.com, Inc. infrastructure in the US, and it uses a Let's Encrypt (YR2) certificate. The certificate is free and gives visitors the padlock icon, so the padlock is no evidence that the site is legitimate.

What to do

If you paid wormgpt.ai, keep the transaction records and report the payment to your card issuer or the exchange you sent crypto from. Do not pay any further "activation" or "upgrade" fees. If you created an account, change that password wherever you reused it, turn on two-factor authentication, and watch for phishing sent to the email address you registered. Do not run any code or files the site gave you. Defenders should block the domain and 216.150.1.1 at the DNS and proxy level, and search logs for earlier visits or sign-ups from their users.
