PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

worldid.one is an impersonation phishing page that poses as World ID, the identity and verification brand behind World App. Its page title is simply "worldId", a close match to the real product name. It targets people who expect to verify an identity, claim a reward or link a wallet. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-04, and the site was still online and serving content when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Pages that clone World ID rely on the brand's association with verification and token rewards. They present a convincing "verify" or "claim" flow so that entering sensitive details feels routine. These clones typically ask visitors to connect a wallet, approve a request or type in a recovery phrase. Any of these steps can give the operator control of the victim's funds or account, and blockchain transfers made this way are rarely reversible.

Evidence

Six of 92 VirusTotal engines flag the domain as of 2026-10-11: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, Netcraft and SOCRadar. That count is modest, so many security products will still let the page load without a warning. The wallet-focused blocklists carry more weight here. MetaMask and SEAL both list the domain alongside PhishDestroy, and Spamhaus DBL classifies it as phishing. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses also reference it, which shows other researchers have tracked the domain independently.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-01-29 through Gname.com Pte. Ltd., about eight months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap suggests the domain was held in reserve before it went live as a lure. The site sits behind Cloudflare (AS13335, US). The visible address therefore belongs to Cloudflare's network, and the server actually hosting the page stays hidden.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to this site, review your token approvals with a revocation tool and cancel anything you do not recognise. Then move your remaining assets to a fresh wallet. If you typed in a recovery phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and transfer the funds out immediately from a clean device. Only use World ID through the official World App and its official website, never through links you received in messages or ads. Defenders should block worldid.one at the DNS and proxy level and report it to Cloudflare and the registrar. They should also check their logs for users who visited the domain.
