PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

webfix-colab.netlify.app is an impersonation phishing page that presents itself as a "Web3 Fix Tool," a supposed repair utility for crypto wallet problems. It targets people with a stuck transaction, a missing balance or a wallet that won't sync, the users most likely to search for a quick fix. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-07. It was still online and serving its content on 2026-10-19, more than a month after it was first flagged.

How the scam works

Fake wallet-repair pages promise to resolve technical errors, then steer the visitor toward "validating" or "rectifying" their wallet. This usually means typing a recovery phrase or private key into a form, or connecting the wallet and signing whatever the page requests. A recovery phrase handed over this way gives the operator full control of the wallet, and its funds can be moved at once. No legitimate tool, wallet provider or support agent ever needs a seed phrase to fix anything.

Evidence

Three of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the site as of 2026-09-20: ChainPatrol, alphaMountain.ai and Forcepoint ThreatSeeker. That count is low, so most general-purpose scanners will not warn visitors. The crypto-specific defenses do warn them. MetaMask's blocklist and SEAL both list the domain alongside PhishDestroy, and those are the protections a wallet user is most likely to encounter.

Infrastructure

The page runs on a free Netlify subdomain, served from Amazon infrastructure in Germany. The setup costs nothing and can be redeployed under a new name within minutes. Its DigiCert certificate is the standard one covering Netlify-hosted sites, so the browser padlock says nothing about who runs this page.

What to do

If you entered a recovery phrase or private key on this site, treat that wallet as compromised. Create a new wallet with a fresh phrase on a trusted device and move any remaining assets to it immediately. If you only connected a wallet or signed a request, review and revoke token approvals granted to unfamiliar addresses using a reputable approval checker, and watch for unexpected outgoing transfers. Defenders should block the hostname, report it to Netlify for takedown, and warn communities where "wallet fix" links circulate in support threads and direct messages.
