Overview

web-ondofinance.com is a fraudulent site that impersonates Ondo Finance, the real-world asset tokenization protocol known for products like tokenized stocks, bonds, and USDY. It targets crypto users who hold or seek exposure to Ondo's tokenized financial products. PhishDestroy first identified it on 2026-09-05, roughly two weeks after it was registered. The site is now offline, with DNS going inactive as of 2026-10-17.

How the scam works

The site replicates the Ondo Finance brand, presenting itself under the page title "Ondo Finance: Tokenized Stocks, Bonds, and USDY" to appear legitimate to visitors familiar with the real protocol. Once a user connects their crypto wallet, a drainer script requests broad token approvals or triggers malicious transactions that silently transfer assets out of the victim's wallet. The victim loses whatever tokens or funds were accessible at the moment of connection, with no recourse once the transaction is signed.

Evidence

Six of 89 engines on VirusTotal flagged this domain as malicious as of 2026-09-18, with detections from alphaMountain.ai, Chong Lua Dao, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, and SOCRadar. While six detections is a relatively low count, the flagging vendors include established threat-intelligence and enterprise security providers. urlscan.io independently returned a malicious verdict and attributed the site to the Ondo brand. The domain also appears on four OTX threat-intelligence pulses and is listed on the PhishDestroy, MetaMask, and SEAL blocklists.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-08-18 through Fewmoretaps OU doing business as Trustname.com, giving it a lifespan of under two months before going dark. It was hosted on IP 217.60.195.241 within the SWISSNET LLC network, physically located in the Netherlands. TLS was provided by Let's Encrypt under the YE1 intermediate, a free and automated certificate authority commonly used for rapid site deployment.

What to do

If you visited the site but did not connect a wallet or sign any transaction, no immediate action is required beyond ensuring your security software is up to date. If you connected a wallet, immediately use a tool such as Revoke.cash or your wallet's built-in approval manager to revoke any token approvals granted to unfamiliar contracts. If you signed a transaction, assume affected assets are lost and move remaining funds to a fresh wallet address. Security teams should ensure web-ondofinance.com and its hosting IP are blocked across endpoint and network controls, and should monitor the SEAL and MetaMask blocklist feeds for related infrastructure.
