PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

vodafone-form.mhmr.ro is a Vodafone-branded subdomain on the PhishDestroy blocklist. Its page is titled in Romanian, "Vara asta, eşti ȋn câştig cu Vodafone" ("This summer, you're winning with Vodafone"), which suggests it is aimed at Vodafone customers in Romania. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-06. When last checked on 2026-10-19, the site still responded but its content DNS was inactive, so it may be reachable only intermittently.

How the scam works

The page presents a summer promotion that tells the visitor they have won something from Vodafone. The word "form" in the hostname points to a page that asks visitors to fill in their details. Fake carrier giveaways of this kind typically ask for a name, phone number, address or payment card details, supposedly to claim a prize or cover a small delivery fee. That information can then be used for fraud. We have not tied this domain to a specific kit or payment flow, but the brand use and the reward framing are the main risks.

Evidence

On 2026-10-06, VirusTotal showed 19 of 92 security engines flagging the domain. That is a substantial share for a page with an ordinary-looking promotional title. Beyond those engines, the PhishDestroy blocklist is its only listing.

Infrastructure

The 2009-06-25 registration date belongs to the parent domain mhmr.ro, not to this Vodafone-themed subdomain. A Vodafone page running under an unrelated domain that is about seventeen years old is not how the carrier publishes its own campaigns. The domain is registered through ICI - Registrar and hosted in Romania on the GLOBALIS-AS Global Internet Solutions SRL network. Hosting it locally fits the Romanian-language lure.
