PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

vid.vexotra.com was an impersonation phishing page presenting itself as "Remedy | CFD Trading" and promising trading on stocks, gold, oil and indices. It targeted retail investors drawn in by leveraged contracts-for-difference offers. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-18, one day after the domain was registered. The site has been offline since 2026-09-26, and its DNS no longer resolved when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fake CFD brokers like this one copy the look and language of a trading platform. Victims sign up, hand over personal and identity details, and deposit funds into an account that shows invented profits on a dashboard. Withdrawal requests are then blocked or met with demands for extra "taxes", "verification" or "release fees", and each payment brings a new excuse. In the end the victim loses every deposit and fee paid, plus the personal data submitted at signup.

Evidence

On 2026-09-19, 13 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, including alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, CyRadar, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet and G-Data. That is broad agreement for a site only two days old. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and matched it to its generic scam pattern. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as spam, and it appears on the PhishDestroy blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-09-17 through TuringSign Inc. d/b/a Cosmotown, and it was caught within a day. Its hosting address sits on a network registered to New Dhaka Hardware in Bangladesh, but it geolocates to the US. The short life, from registration to going dark in about nine days, fits a disposable domain built for a single campaign. The subdomain on a nondescript parent name also suggests that more pages could be launched from the same base.

What to do

If you deposited money, stop all further payments at once, especially any "fee" required to unlock a withdrawal. Contact your bank or card issuer to dispute the charges, and report the loss to your national fraud authority. If you uploaded ID documents, watch for identity misuse, and treat any "recovery service" that contacts you as a likely second scam. Change any password you reused on the site. Defenders should block vid.vexotra.com and the parent vexotra.com domain, and watch for new subdomains using the Remedy CFD branding.
