Overview

vegaswow.icu presents itself as "Vegas Wow", a casino-style brand, and PhishDestroy classifies it as an impersonation phishing page. urlscan.io tags it as a crypto scam, which points at people who gamble or pay with cryptocurrency. We first caught it on 2026-10-13. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its scam content.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages like this borrow a familiar, trustworthy-sounding name so visitors sign up, log in or deposit without questioning who actually runs the site. With a "Vegas Wow" front and a crypto-scam tag, the likely lure is a gaming or bonus platform that takes crypto deposits. These schemes typically show inflated balances or winnings, then block withdrawals until the victim pays a "fee" or "verification" charge, and that payment is also lost. Any login details or personal information typed into the site go straight to the operators.

Evidence

Twelve of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-17. The named vendors include alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft and Kaspersky. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict. Spamhaus lists the domain on its DBL as phishing, which matters because many mail and network filters use that list. Four AlienVault OTX pulses also reference it, so other researchers have tracked it as well.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-10-10 through NICENIC INTERNATIONAL GROUP CO., LIMITED and went live fast enough for us to flag it three days later. That quick turnaround is typical of throwaway scam domains on cheap extensions like .icu. The site sits behind Cloudflare, with the edge IP geolocated to Canada, so the real origin server is hidden. It uses a free, automatically issued Let's Encrypt certificate, so the padlock in the browser says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

Do not deposit funds or pay any "withdrawal", "tax" or "unlock" fee the site demands, because further payments will not get earlier deposits back. If you created an account or logged in, change that password everywhere you reused it and turn on two-factor authentication. If you sent cryptocurrency, keep the transaction IDs and screenshots and report them to the exchange you sent from and to local police. Defenders should block vegaswow.icu at DNS and mail gateways and check logs for users who visited it.
