PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

start-ledgr-cloud-com-intro.pages.dev is a phishing page impersonating Ledger, the hardware wallet maker, under the title "Ledger Start Guide: Secure Your Digital Future." It targets new and existing Ledger owners looking for official setup instructions. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-15. The site went offline on 2026-09-22, and its content was still blocked by the hosting provider when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The page poses as Ledger's onboarding portal, a lure built for someone unboxing a device or reinstalling its companion app. Fake Ledger start pages typically walk the visitor through a convincing setup flow, then ask them to type in their 24-word recovery phrase or install a counterfeit copy of Ledger's software. Anyone who enters the recovery phrase gives the attacker full control of every account the device protects, and the hardware itself offers no defence once the seed is exposed. Ledger never asks for a recovery phrase on a website or in an app.

Evidence

On 2026-09-21, 13 of 89 VirusTotal engines classed the address as malicious, including BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, alphaMountain.ai, ADMINUSLabs and CyRadar. That is a modest share of engines, but it spans several established security vendors. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and identified Ledger branding on the page. The site also appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy's own.

Infrastructure

The site was a subdomain on Cloudflare Pages, created on 2026-08-19, about four weeks before PhishDestroy detected it. The free hosting service let the operator publish quickly under a lookalike name that strings together "ledgr," "cloud" and "intro" to resemble an official address. Traffic was served from Cloudflare's network, with the IP located in Canada.

What to do

If you entered your recovery phrase on this page, treat the wallet as compromised. Set up a new device or reset your current one with a freshly generated phrase, then move any remaining funds there immediately, before the attacker does. If you installed software from the page, remove it and only download Ledger Live from Ledger's official channels. Visiting the page without entering anything carries little risk. Security teams should block the domain, watch for similar Ledger-themed hosting subdomains, and report new copies to the hosting provider.
