Overview

star-gatefinance.com is a fraudulent site that impersonates Stargate, the legitimate cross-chain liquidity bridge, targeting DeFi users who move assets between blockchains. The page title presented to visitors is "Stargate — Cross-Chain Bridge", closely mimicking the real Stargate interface. PhishDestroy first identified it on 2026-09-19, and as of 2026-10-18 the site remains alive and reachable.

How the scam works

The site replicates the Stargate bridge interface to convince visitors they are interacting with a legitimate cross-chain protocol. When a user connects their crypto wallet to initiate a transfer or claim, the underlying drainer contract requests broad token approvals or triggers a malicious transaction. Once signed, the drainer sweeps approved tokens from the victim's wallet without any further interaction required. The victim loses whatever assets were approved or held in the connected wallet.

Evidence

Twelve of 91 engines on VirusTotal flagged this domain as malicious as of 2026-09-29, with detections from alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft, and Kaspersky. The domain appears in four OTX threat intelligence pulses, adding independent corroboration. It is actively blocked by PhishDestroy, MetaMask, and SEAL, meaning wallet software with these lists will warn users before they can connect.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-08-27 through Global Domain Group LLC, less than a month before PhishDestroy first detected it, which is consistent with short-lived fraud infrastructure. It is hosted on Cloudflare's network at an IP geolocated to Canada, and its TLS certificate was issued by Google Trust Services under the WE1 intermediate.
