PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

stakoex.link is an impersonation phishing page that presents itself under the title "STAKO" and is aimed at cryptocurrency users. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-10-16, three days after the domain was registered. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its content, so it remains a live risk.

How the scam works

Sites of this kind copy the name, look and wording of a legitimate-looking crypto or staking service so visitors believe they are on a genuine platform. The "STAKO" branding and the staking-style domain name fit this pattern. Victims are typically pushed to log in, deposit funds, connect a wallet, or enter recovery phrases and account credentials. Whatever is handed over goes straight to the operators, and crypto sent or exposed this way is rarely recoverable.

Evidence

On VirusTotal, 2 of 92 engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-16: Forcepoint ThreatSeeker and Netcraft. That count is low, which is common for newly registered scam domains, but other sources agree with our classification. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and tagged the page as a cryptoscam. The domain appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists in addition to PhishDestroy, and it is referenced in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-10-13 through Cloudflare, Inc. It resolves to 188.114.96.3 on the Cloudflare, Inc. network, geolocated to Canada. The site's TLS certificate was issued by Let's Encrypt (YE1), so the padlock in the browser only means the connection is encrypted. It says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.
