PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

sitemv0wdmcr07jd.cfd is an impersonation phishing page dressed up as Flare Network. It carried the official-sounding title "Flare: The blockchain for data" and was aimed at people holding or using assets on Flare. PhishDestroy flagged it on 2026-10-09, the same day the domain was registered. The site has been offline since 2026-10-10, and its DNS was still inactive at the last check on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The page copied Flare's branding and tagline so that visitors arriving from ads, social posts or direct messages would believe they were on the real project site. Fake blockchain portals like this usually steer people toward a wallet-related action, such as connecting a wallet to claim rewards, migrate tokens or fix an account problem. Some also ask the victim to type in a recovery phrase. A signed transaction or approval can let the attacker move tokens out. A seed phrase hands over the entire wallet, and the theft cannot be reversed on-chain.

Evidence

urlscan.io rated the page malicious and recognised the Flare Network brand in its content. The domain is listed by PhishDestroy, MetaMask and SEAL, the last two being blocklists maintained by wallet and crypto security teams. VirusTotal showed 0 detections out of 92 engines on 2026-10-09, which means conventional antivirus feeds had not caught it yet in its first hours. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses also reference the domain.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Spaceship, Inc. on 2026-10-09 and was detected that same day. It went dark the next day, a short lifespan typical of throwaway phishing domains on cheap TLDs like .cfd. The random-looking name suggests it was generated in bulk rather than chosen to fool anyone by itself. It sat behind Cloudflare, Inc. on an address geolocated to Canada, which hides the real origin server. The Let's Encrypt certificate gave it a padlock, but that only means the connection was encrypted, not that the site was legitimate.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to this site, use a token-approval tool to revoke any permissions you granted, and move your funds to a fresh wallet if you signed anything unfamiliar. If you entered a recovery phrase, treat that wallet as compromised. Create a new wallet with a new phrase and transfer whatever remains immediately. Only use Flare links taken from the project's official channels. Defenders should block the domain and watch for similar random-string .cfd domains using the same Flare branding.
