PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

sitemv0v80farxm8.cfd is an impersonation phishing page posing as Flare Network under the title "Flare: The blockchain for data", the project's own tagline. It targets FLR holders and people using Flare-based apps who expect to land on the official site. PhishDestroy flagged it on 2026-10-09, the same day the domain was registered. As of 2026-10-19 the domain was still listed as live, but its DNS was no longer serving the page.

How the scam works

Copying Flare's branding and tagline is meant to make visitors believe they are on the genuine project site. Pages like this usually funnel visitors toward a "connect wallet" prompt, a fake token claim or migration, or a form asking for a recovery phrase. Signing an approval or transaction on a page like this can let the operator move tokens out of the connected wallet. Typing a seed phrase into it hands over complete control of every account derived from it.

Evidence

On 2026-10-13, 12 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, among them BitDefender, ESET, Kaspersky, Fortinet, G-Data, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, CRDF and alphaMountain.ai. That is broad agreement among unrelated vendors for a domain only four days old. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and recognized the flarenetwork brand on it. The domain also appears on the MetaMask, ScamSniffer and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy's own, so many wallet users would see a warning before the page loads.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Spaceship, Inc. on 2026-10-09 and was detected within hours, which points to a disposable domain set up for a short campaign. Its random-looking name on the cheap .cfd extension has no link to Flare, so the operator relies entirely on the page's look rather than the address. Traffic runs through Cloudflare's network, geolocated to Canada, which hides the actual origin server.

What to do

If you connected a wallet here, check its token approvals with a revocation tool and cancel any unfamiliar ones. Move remaining funds to a new wallet if you signed anything you did not understand. If you entered a recovery phrase, treat the wallet as compromised and transfer assets to a wallet with a fresh phrase immediately. Reach Flare only through bookmarks or links from its verified channels. Security teams should block the domain and watch for similar random-string .cfd domains that reuse Flare branding.
