PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

sitemv0tz5fxwyx9.cfd is an impersonation phishing page posing as Flare Network under the official-sounding title "Flare: The blockchain for data". It targets FLR holders and people in the Flare ecosystem who expect a genuine project site. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-10-09, the same day the domain was registered. On 2026-10-19 the domain was still live, but its DNS was inactive, so the page may not load right now and could come back.

How the scam works

The page copies Flare's branding and tagline so a visitor arriving from a search ad, social post or direct message believes they are on the real project site. Fake Flare pages like this typically push a staking reward, airdrop or wallet-sync step. The victim is then asked to connect a wallet and sign transactions, or to type in a seed phrase. A signed approval lets the operator move tokens out of the wallet. A disclosed recovery phrase hands over the entire wallet.

Evidence

Seventeen of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain on 2026-10-13, including ChainPatrol, alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, ESET, Emsisoft, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker and Fortinet. Agreement across crypto-specialist and mainstream security vendors makes a false positive unlikely. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and recognised the Flare Network brand on it. The domain is blocked by MetaMask, ScamSniffer and SEAL as well as PhishDestroy, and it appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Spaceship, Inc. on 2026-10-09 and was in use that same day. A random-looking name on the inexpensive .cfd extension points to a throwaway domain built for a short campaign, not an established site. Traffic passes through Cloudflare, Inc., with the address geolocated to Canada, which hides the actual origin server. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gives it a padlock in the browser, which proves nothing about who runs it.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to this site, revoke every approval granted around that time with a token-approval checker, and move remaining funds to a fresh wallet. If you entered a seed phrase or private key, treat that wallet as compromised and transfer assets immediately to a new wallet with a newly generated phrase. Reach Flare only through bookmarked official channels, and never type a recovery phrase into a website. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level, watch logs for past visits, and report fresh Flare lookalikes to Cloudflare and Spaceship so they are taken down quickly.
