Overview

recoveryproalpha.com presents itself as "RecoveryPro Alpha," an "Institutional Grade Asset Recovery" service. PhishDestroy classifies it as an impersonation phishing page. Sites like this target people who have already lost cryptocurrency to scams, hacks or failed investments. PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-09-15, and the site was still online and serving its content as of 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Recovery scams target victims who are desperate to get their money back. The phrase "institutional grade" is meant to suggest a professional firm with forensic tools, legal connections or exchange contacts. Once a victim makes contact, schemes of this type typically ask for upfront payment framed as a retainer, tracing fee, legal cost or "release" charge, and then invent new fees until the victim stops paying. Some also request wallet access, seed phrases or identity documents, which exposes the victim to a second theft or to identity fraud. No funds are ever recovered.

Evidence

Independent detection is still thin. On 2026-09-29, 4 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. The site also appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers are tracking it too. PhishDestroy is currently the only blocklist carrying it, which means most browsers and filters will not yet warn visitors.

Be wary of anyone who contacts you afterward offering to recover these losses too.
